Boys DO NOT Hit Girls

Another weekend is over and it seems like it just started.

We spent Saturday looking at a car to replace the old Saturn. Moving up to a Honda Accord. If all goes as planned, we should be driving it home tomorrow. We also went out with Matt, Jen and Jack and checked out the progress on the new house. As for progress, they got the dirt work done just in time for the rain to turn it into a mudhole. I'm guessing it is going to be a slow start on the house. It seems like every 5 days we are getting some new precip lately. Oh well, that just gives us more time to get money saved for the fence, grass, etc.

We spent Today cleaning the Saturn. My Sis Amanda is going to buy it off of us so it will stay in the family. You really never know what is in the carpets of a car inhabited by two, sometimes three, small humans. We put the Rug Doctor to good use, that is for sure.

During the course of the Saturn cleaning Uncle Tom/Daddy had to be the bad guy. Abby gets mad at Jaden because Jaden wants to race her while she is trying to take a leisurely ride in the rain on her scooter so she decides to hit him. This is where things go south really quickly. Jaden decides it would be better to hit back than to come tell me what happened. He really put one on her. They both got a good talking to and a nice long "Think About It" for hitting each other, but Jaden got the "boys DO NOT hit girls" talk. While they were sitting there and while I kept cleaning the car I realized something. My parents were right on one thing. Boys DO NOT hit girls. My sister is about 3 years younger than me and I always used to pick on her, but the minute I hit her everything stopped. I learned real quick that unless I wanted to face the belt and my dad that I probably shouldn't hit my sister. The lesson I learned was very valuable. The ultimate disrespect that a man can show a woman is to hit her. My parents were not always perfect, but they got most of the big things right and now I'm trying my best to pass them on to Abby, Brock and Jaden. I guess you could call it the circle of life or something, but I like to think of today as just another link in the circle of RESPECT.
